We are currently arranging internships with the following companies/organization:


Children’s Learning Institute

This is a unique opportunity to work with Dr. Steven Hecht at the Children’s Learning Institute researching the way students learn to use fractions. Interns will observe classes in Channelview ISD and report their findings back to Dr. Hecht. (Learn more)

Communities In Schools (CIS)

Communities In Schools is a non-profit organization established to provide student support services to at-risk youth. With programs in the Houston, Spring Branch, Alief, Aldine, and Fort Bend districts, CIS is able to reach over 45,000 students and families annually. Opportunities include: CIS Tutoring and Math/Science Club Leaders (Learn more)

Houston Arboretum

The Arboretum offers outdoor fun within the 610 loop. Volunteers are need as tour guides for a variety of guests, as well as school children. Additionally volunteers may help teach classes in the arboretum’s Discovery Room. (Learn more)

Houston Museum of Natural Science

HMNS is committed to educating individuals about math and science and sees over half a million school children a year.  Therefore the museum has many opportunities for volunteers including school tours, docents (a volunteer specifically trained to answer questions about an exhibit), and others.  Additionally, the museum is very flexible with time and includes weekend and overnight opportunities.  (Learn more)

Houston Zoo

The Houston Zoo is committed to providing its animals with great care and Houstonians with quality environmental education.  The Zoo has opportunities similar to those of the Arboretum and HMNS. (Learn more)

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement educates and inspires middle school and high school students to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives. Interns will conduct 45 minute lessons in classrooms. Opportunities include: Economics for Success, After School Programs, Web-Based Business Program, Success Skills, Careers with a Purpose, Business Ethics, Company Program Training, and Job Shadowing. Project GRAD

Project GRAD is at work in five feeder patterns of Houston ISD serving approximately 44,000 children with a comprehensive PK-16 college access and success program. The GRAD model builds academic skills and sets children on the road to college. Opportunities include: GRAD College Institute and GRAD Tutoring. (Learn more)
