Are you a student who has difficulty expressing yourself in writing or through oral communication? The University of Houston has a wonderful resource for you.
The UH Writing and Communication Skills Center
It's in 205 Roy Cullen (right next door to us). Advice is given by well-prepared peer coaches who are students.
If you want to know more about it or have a question you may contact Dr. Marjorie M. Chadwick, Director.
In addition to what may be offered in the English Department and the Language and Culture Center here at UH, a couple of informal programs are:
Accent Reduction Individual Therapy
Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic
Individual therapy is offered including an evaluation for those students who have not been evaluated for over a year.
For students, the rate is $150 for the semester. For non-students, the rate is determined through an income based scale allowing the fees to range from $10-$100 for the semester. The duration of the therapy is 12 weeks and it begins on September 2, 2008.
This group meets on Mondays' from 9 am to 1pm at the University Center. Volunteers from the Houston community help international students with conversational English. Please view the scheduled events.
